Epilepsy Treatments Mississippi

Epilepsy is a common and diverse set of chronic neurological disorders characterized by seizures. Epileptic seizures come from unusual, excessive or super-simultaneous neuronal activity in the brain. About 50 million people in the world have epilepsy, and almost 90% of epilepsy occurs in developing countries. Epilepsy becomes more common as people age. New developments of epilepsy are most common in infants and the elderly. Epilepsy is usually treated, but not cured, with medications. However, over 30% of people with epilepsy still have seizures even with the best available medications. Surgery may be considered in extreme cases. Not all epilepsy syndromes are lifelong – some forms disappear after certain stages of childhood.
