An article released on February 8th, 2012 released information on a recent study of 190 college students regarding depression, anxiety, and physical exercise. These students were told to record and submit daily a log all of their exercise activities that lasted over 15 minutes. The study revealed that physical activity significantly reduced the level of stress in the students’ lives, while having no or negative effect on the levels of anxiety of the students. The researchers explained these results by stating that exercise generates a pleasant-activated feeling in the individual, which aims to help those who are suffering from depression rather than from anxiety.
