A recent article in Science Daily on February 3rd, 2012 released information on the results of a study conducted at the University of Texas about the positive effects of smoking cessation. After separating college students who had smoked for at least 1-5 years and who smoked 5-10 cigarettes a day into two groups (smoking and stop smoking), the stop smoking group reported having significantly fewer respiratory symptoms, especially with coughing, in just after two weeks. This study was conducted to prove the long-term benefits of smoking cessation and motivate the youth to quit smoking.
